Introduction:
Hi, I’m Pastelaine (It’s pronounced as pas·tel·ein because it’s Pastel + Elaine). I’ve been drawing since I was a child, I love anime when I was little, I’d like to thank my dad for motivating me & for always supporting my passion for drawing. I’m from the Philippines, I am 22 and my birthday’s June 9th.
Are you an art student/professional?
Nope, I’m a self-taught artist but I did join a visual arts group for like half a year in college. I draw for fun and to express myself. I’m a BS Computer Engineering student and I’m also a graduate of BS Instrumentation & Control Engineering two years ago, Yes I do have 2 bachelor degrees, I’ll graduate in 2020.

What programs do you use to draw?
Paint Tool SAI & Photoshop
Do you do traditional art?
Not anymore since I’ve started digital art
What’s the tablet you’re currently using?
Wacom Intuos
UPDATE 2020: Huion GT-191 V2
How did you develop your art style?
I’m quite not satisfied with my current art style. Due to it looks like an anime rip off. I’m a self-taught artist so everything I know I got it from another person’s tutorial so I don’t have that original style yet
Can you give me some tips or tutorials?
I’m a self-taught artist so I don’t think I’m qualified of giving tutorials? Maybe one day when I have formal education and I have low confidence to my art and I don’t want to give wrong tutorials.
What are your biggest weaknesses when painting or drawing?
Sketch, like it will take me 3-6 hours just to sketch,1-2 to lineart and coloring
What are your goals?
Well, I draw to express myself, I draw fanart to show my love for the characters and I draw to say what I cant say… I have anxiety so I’m having trouble expressing myself so this is my way of doing it, and the beautiful thing about it is ART is forever, you could see it and share it with the world. I want to leave my own legacy to the world.
Who is that girl with pink & blue hair in your profile?
She’s “Pastelaine” my mascot/persona.
Who is Pastelaine based off of?
She based on my favorite characters from movies/books/tv-series/musicals etc.
May I draw your OC(s)?
Hell yeah! But please credit me back and don’t claim them as yours.
Can I use your Art?
For personal use only like wallpaper or profile picture // do not re-upload without my permission
Could you draw my character?
Sure, you could commission me or if you want free art comment on my Request Journal, but I’m very picky.
Could you do an art trade with me?
Sure send me a note if I’m available.
Do you take commissions?
Yes, check it here

How should I price my art?
You should base it from the amount of time you make it + the details + materials + your experience and your talent fee. (But remember to be reasonable and compare your art to other people’s art and their price too).
How do I prevent people from stealing my art or who do I check if someone stole my art?
Helpful TipsThis journal is a collection of tips and tricks to know copying vs stealing vs referencing vs inspiration
and how to report an underage deviant, and how to reverse image search something when it's been stolen and you dont know who made it!
When someone's ocs are stolen, it's 75% likely that it's because SOMEONE shared their art to pinterest/instagram/whatever. Whether to be 'adopted' out to people or just shared all over that horrid website.
Here's an example;
This oc is stolen a lot
And what do you know, it's spread ALL OVER pinterest.
The reason it's stolen a lot is because pinterest is a website meant for sharing and people will take shit off of there because there's no artist' rules or anything besides 'sources' but barely ANYONE checks those.
Here's the original btw- (you'll notice it's only linked once in the above picture, and it is NOT the first link that pops up if you search the image :/ thanks google
How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.
Small steps: Preventing Art Theft on dA
Permission Issues and Art theft: It's sadly a common thing now.
It is a huge problem on deviantART/ internetz.
But wait! IDK what art theft is..Then Read this!
Art theft is unacceptable. Think about how long people spend on their works. And how much of themselves go into it. Now someone else has spent 0 seconds and claimed it as theirs. NO.
You must credit resources. That includes OCs, stocks, brushes, textures, snippets of code(no, changing the colors of a journal skin does not mean you made it) , tutorials(sometimes).
Written credits. Google images is not good enough.

Protect Your WorkFor many artists, art theft is a frustrating reality. No matter how we watermark, logo, or constrain the resolution of our work, there are instances where artwork will be reposted, ripped, or used for commercial gain without credit or compensation. For some, this can be almost flattering, to know that there are those that like your work enough to steal it. But, the fact still remains, that your work has been used without permission, and for no gain of your own.
My Experience
I have been a photographer for four years now, and throughout that time I am always learning. Part of that education is around copyright, and how to protect my work. The collage above is a brief representation of some of the ways my photography has been stolen. Some were edited without permission, event advertisements, included in a calendar, manipulated to advertise jewelry, sold on canvas, for promoting a cosmetic brand, or even for music videos.
